Professional Development Planner

The Professional Development Planning Tool lets you conduct a self-audit of various aspects of various aspects of your skills and knowledge as a science teacher. You respond to a few questions on a particular aspect of your professional life and the tool provides you with a summary of your level of accomplishment and some suggestions of activities that you could engage in to develop yourself further.

The stages of activity, closely matching changes in screen, are as follows:
Overview, Self-assess, CPD Ideas, Develop Your Plan

Your responses to the questions and the notes you make in the last stage, "Develop Your Plan" are stored in the system and the results of the audit are available as printer-friendly pages.

The Science Education Forum Framework for Progression in the Professional Development of Teachers of Science has been developed with teachers over a number of years as a starting point for teachers to begin the process of auditing their own professional progression

The Framework, principally designed for Secondary Science teachers but of interest to others, has been divided into three areas:

Professional Knowledge and Understanding, Professional Practice and Professional Attributes

Within each of these areas are a number of Elements that form the unit at which the self-audit is managed.
You will be asked to log on or register if you try to start using this framework start using
